We sent our annual community survey out through various channels including via our Customer Love blog and by email to a selection of our most active community members, and also to our 2011 Loyalty World attendees.

In total we had a total of 496 responses to the survey, from across borders and industries. I would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to everyone who donated their time and shared their views on the state of the market and the big challenges / opportunities facing the community in 2012.

Results highlighted the key opportunities and challenges impacting the future of customer strategy as well as the degree to which brands participate in reward schemes/incentives as part of their loyalty strategy.  Also explored- Where clients are focusing or investing in order to improve customer intelligence.

Some of the key opportunities mentioned involved strengthening brand affiliation and brand elasticity to enable additional products, and subscriptions and point of sale opportunities to be positioned in front of customers – and be positively received.

Our research has found that the customer intelligence piece is key to revenue generation, as it is only with accurate data sets, customer profiling and campaign implementation that brands will realise the potential of analytics, and maximise the return.
