With increasing amount of data being generated every second of the day, and the growing awareness of the importance of personal data and privacy issues, customers are now expecting more from businesses. Protecting the data of customers is now one major duty of businesses that is very much expected by customers. A success or failure in this duty would generate very different consequences around the issue of Trust. Positively, you will get to retain your customers, gain loyalty and enjoy positive word-of-mouth advertising. On the contrary, if you fail to perform up to expectations, you will have to prepare to see a drop in customers and their loyalty, and be prepared to carry out some fire-fighting to salvage the situation. So, it's either you gain higher trust, or you lose trust.
