With the new academic year fast approaching back-to-school shopping is in full swing. Now more than ever back-to-school shoppers are resourcefully shopping and are looking to digital to find not only the best deals, but also the most impressive sales.

Back-to-school season, when parents are looking to purchase their children new clothing and school supplies, actually makes this shopping period the second largest, only surpassed by the holiday season. PriceGrabber created the following infographic to convey the data they collected about shopping trends of back-to-school shoppers in 2013.








Some of the key takeaways from the data include:

· 80 percent of consumers will look online for back-to-school deals.

· Social media, particularly Facebook, will impact sales this year, as consumers will be looking there for shopping deals.

· The main shopping strategy consumers will be using is looking for items on sale.

· Consumers expect to find more deals online than in-store.

· The main purpose of smartphones this shopping season will be to check prices online before making a purchase.

· 46 percent of respondents even said they intended to use their smartphones to shop in 2013.
